I grew up with a Mixmaster and bought one myself many years ago. It performed flawlessly, although I never used the dough hooks or made cookie dough in it – most cookies are better made with a wooden spoon. It is a great mixer, and I don’t feel the need to get a huge expensive Cuisinart for 6 times the price – plus it’s harder to store.
My old mixer is still beautiful and looks brand new, but someone did not make sure the beater was all the way in and both beaters got a little bit bent. My husband fixed them, and it seemed just fine – until I used it and it didn’t sound right. I think the inside where you insert the inside beater is damaged and just not quite holding it right.
Sie la vie. It has served me for many many years and I’ll replace it with another. The whisks might come in handy for egg whites and mousse, although the beaters have worked just fine. I expect it will last as long as my first Mixmaster!
